Getting in the Holiday Spirit with the Jingle Bell Jog

On Sunday, I ran the Inaugural Jingle Bell Jog with my dad. It is a 5k race where they give out Santa Suits instead of t-shirts! They also provide jingle bells for your shoes. It is normally in a few Florida cities; this was the first year it was in Virginia and luckily, it was very close to where I live.

It was such a festive race! Everyone was donned in some state of Santa dress or other Christmas outfit. My dad and I opted to wear just the jacket and hat from our outfits. Unfortunately, we forgot to get a picture of us wearing them! I did spot Buddy the Elf at the beginning – he was pretty far from the North Pole. There was also a gorilla dressed in a full Santa suit.

The course was nice. Since it was in my neighborhood (or close enough), I knew where I was going. It was a 3.1 mile loop that went through neighborhoods. At one point, around mile 2, there was an ambulance blasting Christmas songs! During mile 3 there were two hills, which were a little undesired, but overall not bad.

I pushed towards the end to try and beat my time from the 5k on Thanksgiving. I finished in the exact same time: 29:49! It was a fun run and I definitely wasn’t mad about the Holiday treats at the finish. It was a great way to get into the Holiday spirit.
